I was driving to class when I happened to glance over at the trash pad area of our apartment complex and saw these two gorgeous barstools just sitting there. I'm pretty sure they were crying out, "Saaaaaave meeeee!" I slammed on my brakes, threw my car in park and ran out to inspect them. I couldn't believe how nice they were, and even though I was completely embarassed to be taking things that were sitting next to the dumpster, I had to have them (hey, at least they weren't IN the dumpster!).
Once I got them inside I realized that they were missing three stretcher bars and were a bit wobbly, but a quick trip to the Home Depot for some dowel rods and paint and they should be good as new.
Now I have a question for all of you. I like the black that's on these chairs and they match our dining chairs pretty well (in color and style) but I'm wondering if I should branch out. What color would you paint them or would you just leave them as is?

Oh I am a painted black furniture kinda girl, but I also have a weakness for a pretty turquoise!
ReplyDeleteSMiles!

Oooh turquoise would look wonderful! I'll be keeping that in mind!
ReplyDeleteOK, who's the ding dong that would throw out those beauties? What a score! Lucky you! Black is always classic and safe but I was going to suggest turquoise too. Either that or punchy pink-red (now that would be daring).
ReplyDeleteI would leave them black but thats just me :)
ReplyDeleteBlack looks the most sophisticated, striking and with a modern twist. Another way to treat dining chairs is to paint them in different colors, turquoise and green, orange and pink for whooow effect, or different shades of the same color. Have fun...
ReplyDeleteHi Monica.
ReplyDeleteI have an award for you over at my blog if you would like to pick it up.

P.S. I'm gonna be of no real help here, but depending on the color scheme you have going, I would vote, black, cream, or turquoise.
Yeah. I know. That was totally useless. ;)
great find! Good luck w/ the fixing up! I really like your blog & all the beautiful pics!!! Love the Christmas pics! Had to stop myself from saving all!! :-)

Super cute! I love fun colored furniture but I'm always afraid I can't pull it off so I ALWAYS end up going with black. :)
ReplyDeletePS...I wish my neighbors threw away GOOD stuff! My next door neighbors just literally emptied their entire house onto the curb for garbage pick up and it was ALL Junk!! LUCKY YOU girl!
